Workshopping at Copenhagen

Yesterday was finally the time for our tourism student group to head to Denmark in order to attend a social media workshop with bunch of Bachelor students from Copenhagen Business School.

The day at CBS was intensive in terms of trying to absorb all the new information from the lectures by Ana Mariá Munar (Copenhagen Business School) and Mia Larson (Lund University), but at the same time incredibly inspiring. After gaining interesting insights about ideologies and phenomenas of tourism social media, we got grouped and were given an assignment for the workshop day two, which will happen on Friday. The group I´m included, brainstormed some phenomenas around popular culture tourism with the outcome that on Friday we will get our hands on analyzing how Sex and The City fan society lives in cyberspace, and if everything goes as planned we will end-up creating some kind of product for the fan community.

The workshop gave me also nice dash of inspiration towards my Master thesis, a project which will be the priority thing on my todo-list during the first half of next year. Today, in between reading assigned articles, I´ve ended up mapping some new ideas and questioning (and revising!) my own personal beliefs about the impacts of social media towards societies. Now I have a burning desire to get the thoughts organized and start developing them further! This kinds of moments (when you madly end up thinking that everything is possible) makes you fall even more deeply in love with learning.

Before I get back to my learning process, there´s one more thing I want to share with you, according to the importance of happenings like the one we had yesterday. That´s the team spirit of our class. During previous course we were nearly 40 people in the lectures, but now while studying specialization course the size of our group has shrank to nine. I´m happy to  realize that when our ”tourist group” steps outside our Campus and gets a chance to represent our Lund University, i feel incredibly proud when hearing my colleagues throwing their sharp comments from the audience! While we have already come quite  a way increasing our knowledge and improving our analytical skills, we still have a nice journey ahead of us. I really do hope we all continue to make the best of it together! As a matter fact, only in two weeks it will be a time to challenge ourselves in Estonia. Exciting!

xx,

Enni
