Team working

Holiday greetings from Finland! It almost feels like a holiday since i´m visiting home for Christmas, but the reality is that time flies and since my current course is coming to an end I´m not only chilling.

During the course me and my class mates are learning about value creation and innovation. And what´s more, we get a change to improve our managerial skills in terms of arranging a conference! Consequently, during last weeks I have figured out that the conference is also a great test about how the class can achieve joint goals as a team, and therefore i thought about writing what team work means to me.

For me, working in teams have been a great opportunity to learn things that I could never learn by just reading management literature. An academic person would probably call these ”things” tacit knowledge, i would call them tricks, manners, leadership and  situational intelligence. And that´s not all! The greatest things i´ve learned by far are things about myself; How can i develop? How do i react? Why do i react? What kind of team mate am I? Learning the tricks are fun and inspiring for sure, learning about yourself then is sometimes tough, takes whole a lot of guts but is extremely rewarding.

After spending quite a few years in many kinds of teams, my conclusions of team work are the following:

A) team work requires mutual trust, reciprocity, understanding, enthusiasm, curiosity and openness. And yes, sometimes good nerves and encourage to discuss about tough stuff.

B) a group of dedicated people can set themselves a goal that no single individual could ever achieve.

Have a nice week! Remember to team work! 😀
